Management and utilization of fnancial resources in Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics, period 2014 - 2016

Objectives: Finance is one of the most important determinants of hospital operations. Strengthening the fnancial management and effective use of fnancial resources are the basis for ensuring the existence and development of hospitals and the factors promoting competition and progress in hospital operations.

Methods: Cross-sectional design, with a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Study duration and site: Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics from 2014 to 2016. Study subjects: The management of revenues and expenditures of the Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics.

Results: The study on the implementation of fnancial management at the Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics showed that the revenue of the following year was higher than that of the previous year; incomes of civil servants increased steadily; equipment was invested in for supplementing and replacing, while the budget allocated from the state was decreasing. Implementation of the autonomy policy created certain impacts on the supply, utilization and payment of health services. Financial resources of the Hospital were signifcantly contributed towards building and developing the hospital, improving the quality of medical services, reducing the burden on the state budget.

Conclusion: Financial management under the autonomy mechanism facilitated Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics in managing the total revenues and expenditures, promoting the advantages and the role of the leading pediatric hospital in the country, meeting the increasing demand for medical services of people and fulflling the assigned duties.
