Scientific Integrity
The Journal of Health and Development Science (JHDS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity and publishing ethics in accordance with Decision No. 2557/QD-BKHCN, dated May 25, 2026, which promulgates guidelines on scientific integrity and professional ethics in scientific research and technological development.
1. Scientific integrity refers to the requirements for honesty, integrity, responsibility, fairness, and transparency in the scientific research and technological development activities of individuals engaged in science and technology.
2. Professional ethics in scientific research and technological development is a set of principles and standards regarding honesty, transparency, fairness, objectivity, respect for people and society that researchers must adhere to in the process of scientific research and technological development.
Some Basic Principles
+ Scientific integrity and professional ethics in the preparation and publication of scientific reports
1. Be truthful in publishing research results; accurately publish the results achieved and not achieved.
2. Do not plagiarize; adhere strictly to citations in scientific reports and publications.
3. Do not fabricate, falsify data, or falsify research results.
4. Do not misidentify authors or omit authors who have made genuine contributions to the scientific report.
5. Do not obstruct, threaten, coerce, or interfere with the evaluation, review, or approval process of scientific publications.
6. Be responsible for publishing scientific works in journals and conferences
in the appropriate field, matching the level and nature of the research task, or
publishing in publications as prescribed or guided by the State Council of Professors,
authorized organizations and units, funding agencies, and scientific and technological organizations.
7. Do not submit results simultaneously to multiple journals or conferences. Do not publish
repetitive or unclear publications. Do not split results to increase the number of publications without
independent academic value; ensure transparent citations, self-citation rate
and duplication rate as prescribed by each journal or conference.
8. Include the name of the employing institution in scientific reports and publications.
If a different institution is included, the consent of the employing institution must be obtained.
9. Maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy of research subjects.
10. Do not disseminate false information or distort research results.
11. Do not disclose sensitive data collected in research without permission.
12. Corrections, retractions, and withdrawals of research papers are required in case of violations, and reimbursement of related expenses is mandatory upon request.
+ Scientific integrity in establishing intellectual property rights
1. Comply with Vietnamese intellectual property laws.
2. Comply with international and Vietnamese laws when establishing intellectual property rights in Vietnam and abroad.
3. Be truthful in naming the owners and authors of intellectual property rights when establishing rights in Vietnam and abroad.
+ Scientific Integrity in the Process of Scientific Consultation, Review, and Evaluation
1. Do not provide consultation, review, or evaluation of proposals for scientific and technological tasks and projects that fall outside your area of expertise and professional responsibility.
2. Disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect the objectivity and independence of scientific consultation, review, and evaluation activities.
3. Do not provide consultation, review, or evaluation of proposals for scientific and technological tasks and projects in cases of conflicts of interest.
4. Do not obstruct, threaten, coerce, or interfere with the process of evaluating, reviewing, or approving scientific manuscripts.
5. Ensure confidentiality of information during the consultation, review, and evaluation process.
6. Do not intentionally delay or affect the results of consultation, review, or evaluation.
+Scientific integrity and professional ethics in the collection, use, and management of research data
1. Collect objective, complete, and traceable data.
2. Do not select data to achieve desired results.
3. Keep a research log, without erasing any traces of editing.
4. Retain unpublished data.
5. Store, back up, secure, and share data appropriately.
6. Do not purchase fake research data or hire third parties to create data in an opaque manner.
+Scientific integrity and professional ethics in citing sources
1. Prioritize citing the original source.
2. Secondary citations must be clearly indicated.
3. Do not cite out of context.
4. Do not intentionally omit important, contradictory documents.
5. Do not add unread or irrelevant documents.
6. Do not force authors to cite unnecessary sources.
7. Do not participate in citation manipulation activities (intentionally distorting,
inflating, or improperly using reference sources in
scientific research results and articles).
+Scientific integrity in publishing activities
Publishing bodies of research results and scientific reports need to implement
the following:
1. Establish a transparent peer review process.
2. Manage conflicts of interest of authors.
The Turnitin software will process the manuscript within 2 working days. The secretary will notify the author of the peer review results, including revisions if the plagiarism rate exceeds the limit (total plagiarism not exceeding 30% and no single source exceeding 10%), acceptance of publication, and payment of fees within 3 working days.
